DEFENSIVE POSITION. San Beda and Perpetual are both seeking to solidify their spots in the top three.
Games on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena
2:00 PM – EAC (2-12) vs Perpetual (10-4)
4:00 PM – San Sebastian (4-10) vs San Beda (11-3)
The elimination round of the 91st Season NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is set to go down the wire and both current first-placer San Beda College and third-placer University of Perpetual Help are hoping to avoid any complications that will weaken their strangleholds on a playoff spot.
At 4:00 PM, the Red Lions face old-time rival San Sebastian College-Recoletos and at 2:00 PM, the Altas take on hungry Emilio Aguinaldo College on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.
All of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
Another victory will add to the five-time defending champions’ current card of 11 wins in 14 games. San Beda has only lost once in the second round and are only getting stronger with each game courtesy of a finally healthy triumvirate of Art Dela Cruz, Baser Amer, and Ola Adeogun.
Meanwhile, a win by 10-4 Perpetual will move them into a second-place tie with idle Colegio de San Juan de Letran. The Las Pinas-based squad has only lost once in the second round as well courtesy of the fully-realized connection between Scottie Thompson and Bright Akhuetie.
While the Lions and the Altas’ foes may already be out of contention, both have made it their new mission to play spoiler. Moreover, the Golden Stags and the Generals are also still determined to give their respective head coaches more wins in their first year on the job.
