STERN SANCTIONS. Four players were suspended while two others were warned for their roles in the parking lot incident between Perpetual and EAC.
Although fortunately stopped before escalating into something much worse, the NCAA still isn’t taking lightly the parking lot incident between Emilio Aguinaldo College and University of Perpetual Help.
All three reported protagonists in the incident were disciplined with General Raymund Pascua and Alta Niko Cabiltes receiving two-game suspensions and EAC’s Sidney Onwubere earning a one-game ban.
Last Tuesday, the three were named by eyewitnesses to have played leading roles in the commotion at the San Juan Arena parking lot. All three were said to have thrown punches before venue security and other teammates separated them.
Another player, Perpetual’s Nestor Bantayan also incurred a two-game suspension although his role in the incident is still unclear. Altas GJ Ylagan and Flash Sadiwa received “stern warnings.”
The flareup at the parking lot stemmed from an on-court altercation during the teams’ earlier matchup. Cabiltes and General Enjerico Diego got involved with each other before Pascua entered the fray. All three were ejected.
Combining the sanctions from the on-court altercation and the parking lot incident, Cabiltes and Bantayan will have to sit out three and two Perpetual games, respectively, while Pascua, Diego, and Onwubere will be barred in three, two, and one EAC contests, respectively.
