KAGULO. The NCAA showcased, by far, its best crowd of the season on Judgment Day Friday.

Judgment Day came, Judgment Day went, and Judgment Day made history in the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

According to a league official, the massive gameday schedule pitting all six Final Four-contending teams against each other drew 5, 900 people to the San Juan Arena. For reference, that venue’s sitting capacity is 5, 000.

Right from the 12:00 PM tip-off between San Beda College and Mapua Institute of Technology all the way to the final buzzer of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Arellano University matchup at around 6:00 PM, the arena was filled to the bleachers.

More importantly, the jam-packed crowd was rocking and giving their all-out support throughout the three games which were all competitive.

The schedule featuring the Red Lions versus the Cardinals, Jose Rizal University against University of Perpetual Help, and the Knights tackling the Chiefs was dubbed “Judgment Day” and “Kagulo sa NCAA Friday” for its playoff implications. However, the same official said the NCAA did not foresee such when they were formulating the schedule and therefore was unable to plan ahead for a bigger venue.

Still, what September 26, 2015 definitely proved is that the country’s oldest collegiate league is alive and kicking. Perhaps Mikee Reyes – who had the best seat in the house as part of the ABS-CBN Sports panel for the curtain-opener – said it best with a tweet:

Even TJ Manotoc, busy covering Gilas Pilipinas in Changsha, China, had to voice out how awesome NCAA’s Friday turned out to be. Via Twitter:

And if you still don't believe us, well, we'll just let these videos of the crowds of each school do the talking.

The Go San Beda Fight Crowd

The Go Mapua Go Go Mapua Crowd

The Animo Rizal Crowd
