LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. A win will secure for Perpetual at least a playoff for a Final Four spot.
Games on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena
2:00 PM – Perpetual (11-5) vs San Sebastian (5-11)
4:00 PM – JRU (10-6) vs LPU (4-12)
At the most crucial stage of the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament with six teams still vying for four playoff berths, University of Perpetual Help cannot afford a second straight setback.
The Altas try to avoid disaster on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena when they face off with the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags who have already proven their worth as spoilers.
The game is scheduled at 2:00 PM and will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
The last time around, Perpetual had a golden opportunity to clinch at least an eliminator for a playoff berth while also booting out a competitor, but failed to come through against Jose Rizal University. After subpar performances of their own, Scottie Thompson and Bright Akhuetie lead the Altas’ bounce back that would strengthen their grasp on third-place.
Giving them all they got, however, will be a San Sebastian side that has claimed second round upsets against current top two teams Colegio de San Juan de Letran and San Beda College. Bradwyn Guinto, Jamil Ortuoste, and company remain determined to put the standings into even more disarray.
Meanwhile, the JRU Heavy Bombers hope to keep their fantastic roll going, this time against the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates at 4:00 PM.
The Bombers have won four do-or-die games in a row and need to continue doing so as just one loss will eliminate them. Nothing will come easy against a Pirate crew who simply want to build momentum they can bring into next season.
