D-DAY, AGAIN. It took until the last day of eliminations in the NCAA 91 to determine who will move on to the next round.
This is it. The time has come for us to find out who will join San Beda College in the next round of the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
It took until the last day of eliminations, but the fates of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, University of Perpetual Help, Jose Rizal University, and Mapua Institute of Technology will all be determined on Friday at the San Juan Arena.
All of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
Safe to say, all four teams figure in must-win games. Among them, only the Knights are assured of at least an eliminator for a playoff slot and another win would earn them a top-two finish to go along with the twice-to-beat advantage it entails.
However, they will be locked in the hardest of battles at 4:00 PM against the Altas who are fighting for dear life. Surely, the Las Pinas-based squad does not want reigning MVP Scottie Thompson’s final season go to waste.
Meanwhile, the Heavy Bombers are out to secure at least their own eliminator for a playoff slot at 12:00 PM. Vergel Meneses’ boys have already won six do-or-die games in a row, but still need one more to stay alive.
That definitely won’t come easy versus San Sebastian College-Recoletos who have perfectly played the role of party-crasher. Already eliminated, the Golden Stags have downed Letran, San Beda, and Perpetual in the second round and sent the standings into chaos.
In the day’s other game at 2:00 PM, the Cardinals seem to have the easiest path to victory against lowly Emilio Aguinaldo College. Moreover, Atoy Co’s young guns have only lost once in the second round.
However, the Generals would love nothing more than to again spoil the season of the team that was featured alongside them in the infamous on-court brawl of last season.
