San Beda's Jarin takes responsibility for game one loss
Jarin hopes to bounce back on Tuesday's game two

Game one of the NCAA Season 91 Finals between San Beda and Letran was an instant classic.

(If you haven’t seen it, go watch it HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE. If you’re in a hurry and can’t watch the full game, see the highlights HERE. Really, you should.)

It was everything a rivalry game should be, a firefight with both teams battling back and forth up until the final minutes.

With the game tied at 85 heading into the last two minutes (of course), the Knights managed to pull out every stop to hold on and take Game 1, 94-90.

If you’re a fan of college basketball, then you’re already looking forward to Tuesday’s second game. You might even be hoping for a third, winner-take-all deciding game.

That’s also what Red Lions coach Jamike Jarin is hoping for.

The first year mentor joined the media, Friday evening following the game one loss, and put the blame square in his shoulders.

“I coached bad today, that’s why we lost.” Jarin told the media. “On all aspects. It’s my fault, I failed to prepare them against Letran, we had too many turnovers, we had our chances, and we weren’t able to execute, and I take the blame for that.” He added.

Looking ahead, Jarin again emphasized that one of the main adjustments would be taking care of the ball better, since it was two turnovers down the stretch ultimately did the five-time defending champions in.

“The good thing about it, we still have game two. You have to win two games to get a championship, right?”

Jarin noted that even though they were playing badly, they had every chance to win and that it was close, only losing by four.

“Hopefully we play better on Tuesday and get a win, and extend it to Thursday.” Jarin said.

With their backs now against the wall, the Red Lions have no choice but to win on Tuesday and force a deciding third contest if they still want a chance at completing their historic six-peat.

San Beda and Letran go at it again in game two of the NCAA Season 91 Finals on Tuesday, October 27, 4pm. Catch it LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action 23, BALLS HD 195, and livestreaming on
