LAST STAND: Baser Amer (#7) has played his last game for the San Beda Red Lions
Game three of the NCAA Season 91 Finals marked the last game in Baser Amer’s college career.
For seven years, Amer donned the red and white, and for six of those seven years, Amer was a champion, this season being the lone time that he came up short.
Amer has proven himself to be a winner, and the game three loss - while no doubt painful for the pro-bound guard – will do little to tarnish the legacy that he has left with San Beda.
Up to the last minute, Amer fought to bring his Red Lions to the promised land once again, taking over late and even forcing overtime, making game three one of the best games of season 91.
Hours after the final buzzer sounded, hours after his final moments on the hardwood as a member of the Red Lions, Amer posted a heartfelt message to the San Beda community.
Prior to game three, in an interview with ABS-CBN Sports, Amer was asked to look back on his NCAA career. Aside from mentioning his six championships, he added "Sobrang proud ako maging Bedan."
Amer also took to social media to give praises to first-year head coach Jamike Jarin.
Jarin took over as mentor for the Red Lions in Season 91, and led the team to a 13-5 record and the top-seed after eliminations and a tenth-straight finals appearance.
In his message, Amer called Jarin "a father to the whole team" and ended the message by saying "It's an honor to play for you."
A man designated to be our head coach and ended up being a father to the whole team as well. Thank you for loving, caring and trusting us. Hindi ko po alam kung paano magpapasalamat sa lahat ng sakripisyo mo para sa amin. We have given our all and I couldn't think of any other ways to spend my last playing year in the collegiate level. Sa bawat salitang sinasabi mo sa amin, lalo kong narerealize gaano kami kaswerte sayo. We have laughed and cried together, and I wouldn't trade those moments. You are a gem, Coach. I know you and I will always believe in you. It's an honor to play for you.
