Abigail Marano, Denden Lazaro and Michele Gumabao will share their knowledge and collegiate volleyball expertise as analysts for the 91st NCAA volleyball Final Four and championship series.
Collegiate fans will get an added treat when ABS-CBN Sports+Action airs the semifinals and championship round of the 91st NCAA volleyball competition starting next week.
Aside from the exciting matches between the top squads battling it out for school pride and glory, a trio of collegiate volleyball experts will join a crack team of anchors and court-side reporters to deliver an in-depth as well as more entertaining and educational approach to the sport.
Familiar faces on and off the court with legions of fans and supporters, former Ateneo de Manila libero Denden Lazaro and ex-De La Salle middles and current club league superstars Michele Gumabao and Abigail Marano will be sitting on the panel’s table as analysts to dissect and discuss play-by-plays and game strategies as well as sharing their vast experience playing the sport.
The troika, who are all part of the national team, will join NCAA anchors Anton Roxas and Andrei Felix and court-side reporters Ceej Tantengco, former Pinoy Big Brother Housemate Myrtle Sarrosa and Roxanne Montealegre.
“I think it goes to show na hindi ko mabitawan ang volleyball,” said Lazaro, who played a major role in the Lady Eagles’ solid floor defense that gave Ateneo a back-to-back UAAP crown including a clean sweep of last year’s tournament. “First love ko ‘yan e.”
Knowing the technical side of the game, Marano said that they aim to give viewers a better understanding of the sport.
“Most of the viewers kasi kung ano lang ang nakikita nila yun lang ang sa tingin nila ang tama e,” said the 23-year-old former three-time UAAP champion and two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player. “Para maging analyst ka na ikaw mismo nakalaro na sa sport na ina-analyze mo mas makakapagbigay ka ng detalye sa mga viewers. Na ganito talaga specifically ang nangyayari sa loob.”
Gumabao, part of DLSU’s three-peat from Season 73 to 75 and also a former PBB Housemate, is not new with the job having been a part of an amateur volleyball league panel two years ago.
“Nagawa ko na siya before for one season sa Shakey’s V-League so dun ko natutunan ‘yung ropes kung paano maging sports analyst,” she said. “But kasi for me it comes easily kasi I play the sport and pangalawa madaldal lang rin talaga ako.”
Catch them when the NCAA Final Four starts on January 12.
