Sabi ko sa kanya kanina nu’ng nagharapan kami (sa net). Sabi ko sa kanya “Babantayan kita!” Sinabi ko talaga 'yun sa kanya --- Howard Mojica on his strategy to get San Beda's Mark Enciso out of his game
Emilio Aguinaldo College top hitter Howard Mojica proved that he is not only the most dangerous attacker in the 91st NCAA men’s volleyball but also a master of the art of intimidation.
The reigning Most Valuable Player literally bullied San Beda into submission and specifically got inside the head of the Red Spikers’ ace scorer Mark Christian Enciso.
Mojica, playing his last stint with the Generals, told reporters after the match that he played with Enciso’s psyche right from the start of their Final Four match Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
“Oo yun ang pinakabinantayan ko kanina, sabi ko “hinding-hindi ko pakakawalan ‘to.” Noong isang araw ko na sinasabi ‘yun (sa sarili ko),” said Mojica, who pounded the Red Lions with 31 points.
“Sabi ko sa kanya kanina nu’ng nagharapan kami (sa net). Sabi ko sa kanya “Babantayan kita!” Sinabi ko talaga 'yun sa kanya,” he added while flashing a devilish smile.
Mojica got the effect he wanted.
Enciso was taken out of his game with a quiet seven points, silenced by Mojica’s bullying. The Red Spiker was a shadow of himself when he exploded with 19 points last Tuesday in a playoff for the No. 4 spot against the Arellano University.
He was benched in the second frame.
“Ewan ko lang ha, pero kumbaga kanina para siyang “nagtae” ‘yung ganoon. Noong second set inilabas di ba?” said Mojica. “Parang binully ko lang. Na-psy war ko lang.”
The Generals advanced in their fourth straight Finals appearance.
