Defending champion Emilio Aguinaldo College and Perpetual Help collide for the last time for the right to claim the 91st NCAA men’s volleyball crown.
It all boils down to who wants it more.
Defending champion Emilio Aguinaldo College and Perpetual Help collide for the last time for the right to claim the 91st NCAA men’s volleyball crown on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.
The two powerhouse teams split the first two games of the best-of-three series.
Opening serve of the series decider is slated at 2:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 and ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/ncaa.
The Altas leveled the series last Friday as they drew strength from their solid net defense to hold off the reigning league Most Valuable Player Howard Mojica and the fancied Generals, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, to keep their title bid alive.
Perpetual is looking to deny EAC, which opened the series with a 25-22, 14-25, 25-14, 25-16 last week, a repeat crown in their third championship series showdown after sweeping the Generals in Season 88 and 89 Finals.
“Walang ng may advantage sa amin. Equal na kami. Maybe it’s up to the player na lang kung papaano sila lumaban. Kung sino na lang ang mas gustong mag-champion,” said Perpetual coach Sammy Acaylar.
“Labanan na lang ‘yan ng puso. Gusto nila, gusto rin namin. Pero hindi kami magpapatalo,” he added.
Bonjomar Castel, brothers Relan and Rey Taneo as well as net defense specialist Ranidean Abcede will again be at the forefront of the Altas’ fight.
The power-hitting Mojica scored 22 in Game 2 but Perpetual effectively silenced his teammates to force Game 3.
Kerth Melliza, Israel Encina and Hariel Doguna need to bounce back big time from their scoring slump the last time out to protect EAC’s crown.
