*BLANK* BROTHERS. Paolo Pontejos and Teytey Teodoro are big-time shooters like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson - that's why their new nickname will be very close to "Splash Brothers."
Look alert “Bus Driver” and “Conductor,” another tandem is ready and raring to challenge your place as the best backcourt in college.
Jose Rizal University guards Paolo Pontejos and Teytey Teodoro are nothing but determined to prove that they aren’t just Heavy Bombers who have the range from distance, but also heavy hitters who have the talent to carry their school onto the next level.
Asked if they’re looking forward to an explosive meeting with Arellano University’s Jiovani Jalalon and Kent Salado, Teodoro told ABS-CBN Sports, “Oo naman! Laban lang!”
Pontejos could only echo his partner-in-crime in saying, “Oo! Magaling talaga yung dalawang yun, pero…”
He then continued, before trailing off and teasing just about everybody, “Bahala na. Tignan nalang natin.”
If they do live up to expectations, the Heavy Bomber backcourt can also expect to find some perks for their trouble. In fact, ABS-CBN Sports panelist Andrei Felix is excited to christen them with a new nickname – a new nickname he prefers to reveal only after the season has begun.
All we need to know, however, is that when it was shared with Pontejos, he reacted with glee, “Pwede! Pwede yun ha!”
For his part, the softspoken Teodoro said, “Okay yun!”
Of course, their turn in the spotlight also means that the two are now the the leaders of JRU. The faithful over in Shaw Boulevard need not worry, however, as Teodoro assured them, “Hinahanap na rin ni coach (Vergel Meneses) sa akin yung leadership.”
He then continued, “Kaya sana magampanan ko. Kahit hindi ako mas vocal, sa game ko nalang ilalabas.”
And once again, his running mate in Pontejos could only agree. “Alam kong isa na rin ako sa mga veteran kaya magiging leader na ako talaga. Pero ganun pa rin naman, gagawin ko lang lahat para makatulong sa team,” he said.
