SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT. Perpetual announced, all of a sudden, that Jimwell Gican is their new head coach.
The triumvirate they named six months ago is yet to call the shots in the NCAA, but University of Perpetual Help has again announced a new head coach.
The Altas made official in the Season 92 press con on Wednesday at the MOA Arena that Jimwell Gican is their new head coach. His name is now on paper instead of the three-headed mentorship of former player Nic Omorogbe, owner Antonio Tamayo, and Atty, Barry Tobias.
The triumvirate was tasked last December to take the place of legendary Aric del Rosario who amicably parted ways with the Las Pinas-based squad. Perpetual missed the playoffs for the first time in del Rosario’s tenure last season.
As it turns out, however, the triumvirate’s appointment was nowhere near final. As Gican said, “Actually, matagal na nilang pinag-iisipan yan. Tinitignan ko lang kung kelan yung best time na i-announce.”
He then continued, “So, ngayon na nga nila in-announce.”
Talking about his expectations for his second stint in Las Pinas, Gican said, “Okay lang naman. Trabaho lang naman ‘to.” His first stint came back on 2011 when he took the place of Boris Aldeguer who suddenly resigned.
