DOWN, BUT NOT OUT. Bright Akhuetie is hoping to finally see action in Perpetual's next game.
To the surprise of just about everybody, Bright Akhuetie wasn’t suited up in University of Perpetual Help’s highly-anticipated matchup with Arellano University.
As it turns out, the Nigerian reinforcement sprained his knee just days before the Altas’ first assignment. Expressing his disappointment with the development, he told ABS-CBN Sports, “I can’t stand watching without playing, especially the first game of the season. It’s frustrating.”
The good news for the faithful in Las Pinas is that Akhuetie’s injury is only mild and all he needs is resting up. However, they shouldn’t expect him to return any earlier than their third game against San Sebastian College-Recoletos on July 14.
As he himself put it, “I’ll be back maybe third game.” Giving Perpetual some sort of hope, however, he said, “But if I’m cleared before the second, I’ll play.”
The Altas second game is against Jose Rizal University on July 1
