REV YOUR ENGINES. Jiovani Jalalon and Arellano are nothing but raring to show just what they've got.
Games on Sunday at the San Juan Arena
12:00 PM – Arellano vs Perpetual
2:00 PM – San Sebastian vs CSB
4:00 PM – EAC vs LPU
The fancied favorites in the 92nd NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament finally get their time to prove expectations correct.
Presumed MVP candidate Jiovani Jalalon and expected championship contender Arellano University take on their first test in the form of Bright Akhuetie and University of Perpetual Help at the San Juan Arena, Sunday.
“The Bus Driver” finally arrives for his fourth season at 12:00 PM.
With their most talented lineup from top to bottom yet, the Chiefs are being looked at as the frontrunners in the tournament. Indeed, flanking the top collegiate guard in the country today in Jalalon is an enviable collection of talent featuring Allen Enriquez, Donald Gumaru, Kent Salado, as well as newbies Michael Canete and Lervin Flores.
The Altas roster isn’t too shabby either, however, with Nigerian reinforcements Akhuetie and Prince Eze still serving as pillars. However, they may still need time to adjust to the absence of legendary Aric del Rosario who was replaced by new coach Jimwell Gican.
Meanwhile, the four teams in the bottom of the standings a year ago hope for a better start this time around by barging into the win column in just their first assignments.
Multi-titled mentor Egay Macaraya debuts for seventh-placer San Sebastian College-Recoletos against ninth-placer College of St. Benilde at 2:00 PM while erstwhile anonymous coach Ariel Sison calls his maiden contest for bottom-feeder Emilio Aguinaldo College versus eighth-placer Lyceum of the Philippines University at 4:00 PM.
