GOT YOUR NUMBER. San Beda remains as the only school EAC hasn't beaten.
San Beda College is the only team among the NCAA’s 10 member schools that is yet to drop a game to Emilio Aguinaldo College.
The Generals could still put a stop to that in Season 92, but it just wasn’t happening on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.
Radge Tongco and AC Soberano busted out with 22 and 21 points, respectively, to lead the Red Lions to a 91-76 victory versus EAC.
The upstart Generals were making the game interesting, only chasing down a six-point deficit before Tongco sparked San Beda to a 31-point quarter and a 71-53 advantage entering the final frame.
EAC was only able to come as close as 63-75 with 6:29 remaining.
In the absence of team captain Dan Sara who was sidelined by a finger injury, the Lions followed the lead of Tongco to their third consecutive victory and a share of the top of the leaderboard. They stand at 3-0 with Mapua Institute of Technology.
Along with stretching their strong start, the Lions are now also a perfect 15-0 when taking on the Generals. “In the two games was (Javee) Mocon, (Robert) Bolick, and (Davon) Potts. Now, it’s Tongco and Soberano,” a satisfied coach Jamike Jarin said in his post-game conference.
He then continued, “This is a team and we play as a team.”
On the other hand, EAC suffered a second straight setback despite having five players in double-digits. After a win in the season opener followed by a competitive loss, the upstarts were dominated this time around by the only squad they have never defeated in their seven-year history in the NCAA.
