BIG FIGHT-FEEL. Modern day rivals San Beda and Arellano square off once again.
Games on Friday at the San Juan Arena
12:00 PM – Letran vs Perpetual
2:00 PM – Mapua vs San Sebastian
4:00 PM – San Beda vs Arellano
San Beda College is the lone undefeated team in the NCAA 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Staying that way, however, will be a tall task as challenging them up next is an Arellano University side which has seemed to have their number since a season ago.
Jiovani Jalalon and the Chiefs seek to be the first mark on the loss column for the Red Lions when the two teams face off at the San Juan Arena on Friday.
The bell rings on round 1 of this heavyweight bout at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/ncaa.
San Beda stands alone atop the leaderboard, holding a 5-0 record and no one player has singlehandedly carried the torch for them. Stout performances from Donald Tankoua to Davon Potts and Javee Mocon to Radge Tongco have done nothing but showcase their enviable depth.
The Chiefs have proven to have the trump card for their opponents’ team effort, however, in the form of Jiovani Jalalon. Following the lead of “The Bus Driver,” in fact, it was because of them that the Lions failed to advance into the Final Four of the Filoil preseason for the first time.
Also putting their four-game winning streak on the line is Colegio de San Juan de Letran who battle University of Perpetual Help at 12:00 PM.
Following a tournament-opening loss, the Knights have rolled to four consecutive victories behind the awesome play of early MVP frontrunner Rey Nambatac. Trying to put a stop on them, however, are Bright Akhuetie and the Altas who want nothing to do with a losing skid.
Meanwhile, Mapua Institute of Technology looks to get back on track at the expense of San Sebastian College-Recoletos at 2:00 PM.
