Bolick’s breakout for San Beda all thanks to ‘Mamba Mentality’

IN HIS SHOES. San Beda can thank Robert Bolick's new footwear for their still perfect standing.
San Beda College’s spotless slate remains intact after they topped fellow contender Mapua Institute of Technology on Thursday.
And Mendiola can thank first-year player Robert Bolick for that.
The rookie-transferee from De La Salle University played his best game as a Red Lion with a near triple-double of 10 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. He also drilled the long jumper that kept the Cardinals at bay for good.
The reason behind his breakthrough performance? A change in footwear apparently.
As he shared with reporters in the post-game conference, “Natawa ako kasi sa practices, sabi ng mga teammates ko, ‘You know what, you should wear the Kobe shoes.’ ‘Di ko pa na-wear yung Kobe shoes e so sabi nila, just try.”
Bolick then said that teammate Davon Potts, their leading scorer, wears the same Kobe X’s and that’s why he winds up with high point outputs. “I told them maybe I’ll try and it just happened. I don’t know why,” he said.
He then continued, “Maybe there’s something with the ‘Mamba Mentality.’”
After his near triple-double, the San Beda rookie said he has now found the shoes he will be wearing from now on. “I was wearing (something else). ‘Di ko na uulitin,” he said.
