Akhuetie thinking about joining Slam Dunk next season
SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO. The prospect of Bright Akhuetie in the Slam Dunk Contest is shining, well, brighter.

Even with Yankie Haruna’s redemption and Eugene Toba’s emergence, this year’s Slam Dunk Contest still fell quite short in the excitement department.

The excitement department is about to get a shot in the arm next season – if all goes to plan.

Asked about his All-Star plans a year from now and if he’s considering competing in the Slam Dunk Contest, University of Perpetual Help’s Bright Akhuetie answered, “I’ll think about it.”

Ever since his entry in 2015, everybody has been thrilled about the prospect of the Nigerian powerhouse showcasing his wares in the Slam Dunk Contest. Why, you ask?

This. This is why:

Still, the Alta put the brakes on any certainty by explaining that, right now, his health is yet to return to full strength. As he put it, while pointing to both of his knees, “I’m not really 100 percent (to join) the Dunk Contest right now.”

He then continued, “I’ll work on it. (We’ll see) probably next season.”

For now, Akhuetie is enjoying the All-Star MVP he just won. Vowing to use it as added fuel, he said, “I’ll still work harder to achieve what I really want.”
