Seven-time champion San Beda High School are still in a dead heat with challenger Arellano High School as the 92nd Season of the NCAA Juniors Basketball Tournament rolls along.

The Red Cubs dominated from start to finish in an 86-63 triumph over Jose Rizal High School while the Braves built enough of an early cushion to be able to ward off San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 78-65, on Thursday at the San Juan Arena.

With their wins, San Beda and Arellano still find themselves entangled atop the leaderboard now at 10-1.

Guilmer dela Torre scattered 27 points built on five triples as the Braves forced 27 errors off their opponents which they quickly converted into 19 points. Their lead ballooned to as high as 25 with a 32-point second quarter and stayed in double-digits until the final buzzer.

Meanwhile, Ry Dela Rosa scored 15 points to lead three other teammates in double-digits as the Cubs coasted to an easy victory. Dela Rosa’s output was only eight less than what all of the starters of their opponents were able to muster.

The loss sent the Staglets to 1-10 while the defeat dropped the Light Bombers to 2-9.
