Meneses says JRU go-to-guy Teodoro can ‘make it big’

BIG-TIME. JRU coach Vergel Meneses has all the faith in the world in Teytey Teodoro.
Since his breakout a season ago, Teytey Teodoro has always been regarded as one of the most, if not the most, clutch players in the NCAA.
The Heavy Bomber added another bullet to his growing and glowing credentials after his endgame against no less than defending champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran. Firing eight of his 23 points in overtime, it was he and he alone who propelled his team to a third consecutive victory.
Nothing but appreciative of the shot-taking and shot-making of his go-to-guy, coach Vergel Meneses expressed, “Fan tayo nito kaya nga nasa akin yan. He can go to the big league kasi yung puso niya, nandun na naman.”
He then continued, “Maniwala ka sa akin, pupunta ng PBA ito.”
Indeed, if Teodoro continues reinforcing his reputation as clutch, there will be a spot for him in Asia’s first pay-for-play league. Even more so if he pulls off those clutch shots like this:
Still, the caveat, at least in he eyes of Meneses, is there should also be the same kind of impact at the other end. “From what I have heard, many of the PBA coaches, ay fan niya, but the problem is yung depensa,” he said.
He also added, “Kaya sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Dumipensa ka and you’ll make it big.’”
For his part, however, the 22-year-old said the PBA remains far from his mind. Assuring the faithful over at Shaw Boulevard, “Focus muna ako sa JRU kasi gusto ko talagang pumasok sa championship. Matagal na masyadong hindi kami nakakapaglaro sa Finals kaya yun ang pangarap namin.”
