Making good on anything and everything reigning MVP Mike Enriquez set up for them, Malayan Institute of Technology remained right on the heels of league-leaders Arellano and San Beda High Schools in the NCAA 92 Juniors Basketball Tournament.

Jasper Salenga and Romuel Junsay scored 21 and 15 points, respectively, and were the top two recipients of Enriquez’s nine-assist total in the Red Robins’ 92-82 romp over University of Perpetual Help on Thursday at the San Juan Arena.

Last season’s top individual player is yet to have a high-scoring outing and only had five points this time around, but his nine assists nearly matched the Junior Altas’ team output of 12. He didn’t need to score anyway as Salenga led four of his teammates in double-digits.

Malayan never trailed all the way to their 10th win in 12 games. They stand just one full game behind both the Braves and the Red Cubs for the top spot.

Meanwhile, College of St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills also strengthened their stranglehold on fourth-place after dispatching Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 71-69.

Troy Mallillin scattered 23 points and the Junior Blazers survived a disastrous 31-51 first half with a ravenous 40-18 second half. They woke up just in time to rise to 8-4.

Their respective defeats dropped the Junior Altas to 4-8 and the Squires to 5-7.
