ONE FOOT IN THE DOOR. San Beda hopes to move one step closer to a semis slot.
Games on Thursday at the San Juan Arena
2:00 PM – Perpetual vs Arellano
4:00 PM – Mapua vs San Beda
Despite all the trials they have gone through in the NCAA 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament, San Beda College stands just one more win away from at least a playoff for a Final Four entry.
The Red Lions look to take that step on Thursday at the San Juan Arena when they tussle with Mapua Institute of Technology side desperate to gain much-needed momentum for their own playoff push.
First-ranked San Beda (11-2) battles the fourth-running Cardinals (7-5) at 4:00 PM and all of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com.
The Lions will be playing without reserve big man Junjun Bonsubre who will be serving out his one-game suspension for his involvement in the late-game scuffle with archrival Colegio de San Juan de Letran last Friday. This gives them an even thinner frontcourt after already losing Donald Tankoua to a season-ending injury.
Reigning MVP Allwell Oraeme wants nothing more than to take advantage and lift Mapua back onto the win column. They have struggled to find consistency in the second round, but a statement win against the league-leaders may just turn the tides for them.
Meanwhile, Arellano University looks to avoid being dragged down into a tie for second-place with University of Perpetual Help at 2:00 PM.
The 10-2 Chiefs are a full game ahead of the 9-3 Altas, but a loss would put them on even ground in the standings.
