Player of the Week Dagangon leading Perpetual’s playoff push

With Scottie Thompson already in the pros, University of Perpetual Help's first order of business was to find a true leader.

Enter Gab Dagangon.

Dagangon has assumed the leadership role now that Thompson is gone and most recently, dropped a 22-point, nine-rebound, and two-block performance to help the Altas down Arellano University, 76-62, in the 92nd NCAA basketball tournament.

For his effort, Dagangon bagged his first ACCEL Quantum/3XVI-NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week award.

"I just want to help the team and to set a good example especially to the younger players," said Dagangon in Filipino.

Next to Nigerian teammate Bright Akhuetie, Dagangon has been the second most consistent player in the Las Pinas-based team's fold as he has been averaging 14 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and a block through the tournament.

He could step up big-time if necessary as well as seen in the huge win over the Chiefs.

Dagangon bested Emilio Aguinaldo College's Sidney Onwubere and Hamadou Laminou as well as Colegio de San Juan de Letran's Rey Nambatac for the weekly plum.
