Deposed champion Letran Knights made good of their final game for Season 92.
It took an extra five minutes but deposed champion Letran finally took care of business against a fighting EAC side.
The Knights needed an overtime period to beat the pesky Generals, 93-87, Thursday in the NCAA Season 92 men's basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena.
John Calvo made all four of his free throws in the dying moments of extra time to turn a scary two-point lead to a six-point victory.
Up by 11 in the fourth, the Knights lost all of it as EAC made a final desperate run to finish the season.
With the Knights still leading by five, 82-77, with 10.1 seconds left in regulation, the Generals made two steals to score two baskets and force the tie.
Sidney Onwubere cut the deficit to two, 80-82, before Hamadou Laminou tied things up at 82 with 0.8 seconds to go.
"Nage-enjoy pero nakalimutan ata tapusin ang laro," head coach Jeff Napa said of his Knights after the game.
"Sinabi ko sa kanila masyado na nage-enjoy nakalimutan na tapusin ang laro, at least natapos naman ng maayos despite na nag-overtime," he added.
After a close three quarters, the Knights pulled away in the final period and were well on their way to win after going up by double digits with three minutes to go before the Generals' furious rally.
Jom Sollano made good of his final game for Letran, going for 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Season 91 champions.
The Knights ended up tied for fifth with the JRU Heavy Bombers, finishing their season at an even 9-9.
Rey Nambatac added 15 while Quinto scored 12, seven in OT.
Laminou and Onwubere scored 23 apiece to lead the Generals. EAC, a year after a disastrous 2-16 campaign, ended Season 92 with a 6-12 record.
