THIS IS IT. Positioning for the playoffs will be up for grabs when all Final Four teams do battle against one another on D-Day Friday.
Games on Friday at the San Juan Arena
12:00 PM – CSB vs LPU
2:00 PM – Mapua vs Perpetual
4:00 PM – San Beda vs Arellano
The positioning for the playoffs of the NCAA 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament will be decided all in one day.
Unless, San Beda College has something to do with it.
The Red Lions want nothing more than to force a playoff for the top-seed when they duel with first-running Arellano University while Mapua Institute of Technology and University of Perpetual Help dispute the third-seed on Friday at the San Juan Arena.
The top two teams already armed with twice-to-beat advantages will collide in the last game of the elimination round that tips-off at 4:00 PM. All of the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/ncaa.
San Beda trumped Arellano in their first round meeting, but since then, the former have lost Donald Tankoua and have went on a roller-coaster ride while the latter have gained peak Jiovani Jalalon and have sped all the way to the top spot.
As such, the Chiefs are the favorites to push off the Lions out of the top-seed for the first time in a decade.
The third-seed will then go to the victor of the tiff between the Cardinals and the Altas at 2:00 PM.
Both at 11-6, another win will secure for either Mapua or Perpetual the higher between the two non-twice-to-beat seedings. The loser will then settle for fourth-seed and head into battle against the top-seed.
In the day’s other game, College of St. Benilde hopes to be the first team to go winless in a season when they take on Lyceum of Philippines University at 12:00 PM.
