AND STILL. Evan Nelle remains the Player of the Week just like seven-time champion San Beda remain the top-seed.
Three days before their much-awaited rematch with the only team that has defeated them in the NCAA 92 Juniors Basketball Tournament, Evan Nelle, apparently, only spoke truth.
“We’re gonna beat them,” he expressed then, full of confidence.
Come Monday, San Beda High School not only beat Arellano High School, they humbled them with a 92-74 whipping.
At the forefront of it all was the wiry guard who had not only regained his shooting stroke, but has also been doing a little bit more of everything else. He collected 19 points build on five triples, five assists, and four rebounds to lead the Red Cubs in avenging their first and only loss through the tournament.
Asked if there was some sort of statement in their latest win, their 10th in a row, Nelle answered, “We just did what we had to do.”
Indeed, the second-year sharpshooter also did what he had to do to be recognized as the Player of the Week from September 18 to 24. Struggling for much of the start of the season, this is now his second straight citation.
Nelle beat out teammate Robi Nayve and Malayan High School of Science’s Jasper Salenga for the weekly recognition.
