GONNA GET THROUGH THIS. AC Soberano said he and San Beda are living proof that hardwork pays off.
AC Soberano ended the elimination round of the NCAA 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament with a bang.
Pouring in a career-high 26 points build on six triples, the second-year sniper shot San Beda College over Arellano University and onto the top-seed for the 11th year in a row.
Asked about his career-game, Soberano stayed humble as always in saying while smiling, “Tsamba lang!”
The Tarlac native then went on to also credit the winner’s mentality instilled in them by coach Jamike Jarin. “Ang mindset namin, win, win, win, win. Yun ang sinulat ni coach sa board namin kanina,” he said.
He then continued, “Paggising ko sa umaga, sinasabi ko, gusto ko manalo. Gusto namin talaga manalo para makuha yung number one kasi nga, every year, number one ang San Beda.”
Now they are back in a familiar place as the top-seed, Soberano shared all of them are still at a loss on just how they did it yet again – especially with big blows of the graduations of Ola Adeogun, Baser Amer, and Art Dela Cruz and then the season-ending injury to Donald Tankoua. “Hindi ako makapaniwala na nalampasan namin yug mga struggle na dumating sa amin,” he expressed.
He then continued, “Nawala yung big man namin, nawala yung first five namin dati, pero nandito pa rin kami ngayon. It’s all about teamwork and hardwork.”
And the Red Lions’ marksman promised the faithful over at Mendiola that their teamwork and hardwork won’t be stopping here just yet. “Hardword paid off ngayon, pero kailangan pa naming mag-work hard para sa semis sa Friday. Tapos kung makapasok pa kami sa Finals, triple pang work hard,” he said.
