SUNRISE. With Aaron Fermin leading the way next season, Arellano seems poised to stay in contention.
Next year, Arellano High School will no longer have Guilmer Dela Torre and Carlo Abadeza.
Still, they seem poised to stay in contention with both of the last two Rookies of the Year taking the reins.
Big man Aaron Fermin capped off an impressive debut season where he averaged 10.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks by being recognized as the Rookie of the Year.
Not only that, ranking first in blocks and third in rebounds also earned him Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The Nueva Ecija native and teammate Lars Sunga are the last two Rookie of the Year awardees
Meanwhile, San Beda’s Josh Tagala is set to take home the Most Improved Player plum after rising from 20th in SPs in 2015 to fourth in SPs in 2016.
Tagala’s jump up by 16 spots gave him the win over MVP Troy Mallillin of College of St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills who jumped up by 11 spots from 12th in 2015 to first in 2016.
