STILL THE ONE. Allwell Oraeme held off Harry Nzeusseu and Hamadou Laminou to hang on to the title as top defensive player in the tournament.
A couple of Cameroonians tried their best, but it was still Alwell Oraeme who set the standard at the defensive end in the NCAA 92 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
The top rebounder with 19.8 per game and the second-best blocker with 2.3 per game, the Nigerian muscled his way into being the Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.
Also for the second straight season, Oraeme coupled being Defensive Player of the Year with being MVP.
Harry Nzeusseu of Lyceum of the Philippines University and Hamadou Laminou of Emilio Aguinaldo College were a distant second and third, respectively.
