GREENER PASTURES. CSB's turnaround from a one-win season will be overseen by DLSU product TY Tang (seen here playing for Rain or Shine).
Wanting nothing more than to move forward from the 1-17 season it just experienced, College of St. Benilde is bringing over help from the basketball powerhouse of a school across from it.
Former De La Salle University court general Tyrone “TY” Tang is soon to be announced as the new mentor of the Blazers.
According to a source, the two sides are close to an agreement and only Tang’s signature is missing.
Also, sources within the squad shared that the former Rain or Shine Elasto Painter has already been introduced to them as their new coach last Tuesday.
Tang played point guard for the Green Archers in their 2007 championship. Afterwards, he was drafted 12th overall by Rain or Shine where he suited up for seven seasons.
Helping the 32-year-old in his first head coaching job will be Nico D’ Haenen, Ali Peek, and Charles Tiu, as per sources.
Tang takes over from Gabby Velasco who steered the ship over at Taft Avenue for four years.
Last year, CSB suffered its worst start in school history at 0-17 before finally winning its final assignment.
