College of St. Benilde clinches the last championship seat to face reigning champion Perpetual Help.
Streaking College of St. Benilde shook off a rusty start to sweep Arellano University, 27-25, 25-20, 25-14, in their Final Four match Tuesday to arrange a championship duel with defending champion Perpetual Help in the 92nd NCAA men’s volleyball competition at The Arena in San Juan.
The Blazers will be bringing in a huge momentum in the best-of-three Finals starting Friday, winning its 10th straight match after opening the season with a straight sets loss to the Altas.
The Taft-based squad returned to Finals for the first time since its runner-up finish in Season 90.
Skipper John Vic De Guzman scored all but one of his 15 points from kills while Isaah Arda also had 15 markers for the Blazers, which started out flat.
The Blazers, who trounced Perpetual, 25-21, 25-23, 25-14, last Friday for the no. 1 spot, had a solid performance in front of the net with 11 kill blocks with four coming from reserve Mark Jethro Orian.
Christian Dela Paz led the Chiefs with nine points while John Cabillan, Kevin Liberato and skipper Benrasid Latip combined for 21 points.
