NESTLED IN. Mapua's reinvigorated high school program will bear its first fruits in promising talents Finals MVP Bryan Samudio, Sherwin Concepcion, and Jasper Salenga.
Already with back-to-back MVPs, the only thing missing in Allwell Oraeme’s resume is a championship.
To finally win it for Mapua Institute of Technology, the Nigerian powerhouse needs all the help he can get.
Fortunately for Oraeme, reinforcements are coming straight out of Mapua’s high school in NCAA 92 Juniors Finals MVP Bryan Samudio, sweet-shooting Sherwin Concepcion, and do-it-all Jasper Salenga.
The three confirmed on Saturday that they will be moving up into becoming Cardinals.
The three most recently helped Malayan High School of Science claim its first championship since 2000.
Samudio is a versatile swingman whose impact in the game is not reflected in the stat sheet while Salenga is an energy guy whose motor doesn’t stop even up against bigger opponents.
Salenga was the Red Robins’ second-leading scorer with 14.8 points per game to go along with 6.1 rebounds, and two assists. Samudio averaged nine points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists himself.
The most promising talent, however, is Concepcion who is a six-foot-three forward with touch from long-range. He normed 11.7 points and at least one triple per game alongside 8.2 rebounds.
