HOLD YOUR HORSES. LPU's statement win against San Beda is just that - a statement win and not ultimate prize.
With two wins in as many games, Lyceum of the Philippines University is alone atop the leaderboard in the NCAA 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
And, truth be told, being solo first is quite the breakthrough for the Pirates.
Still, head coach Topex Robinson was quick to remind everybody that they haven’t won anything yet. “Nobody wins a championship sa second game,” he expressed.
The statement holds all the more water with their schedule just getting stronger and stronger. As the amiable mentor put it, “Hopefully, it could really propel our drive. Hopefully, we could keep showing we have a good culture, we have good leaders, and we have good individuals who are, again, inspiring others.”
After defending champion San Beda College, LPU will face off against resurgent powerhouse San Sebastian College-Recoletos, last year’s runner-up Arellano University, and then dangerous Mapua University.
The good news for the faithful over at Intramuros is that their boys are nothing but determined to take on their newfound challenge. “We know that teams will be playing us harder. We just have to always be ready, always be hungry, and always be humble,” Robinson expressed.
