These LPU Pirates have more than just CJ Perez

TEAM EFFORT. It's getting clearer and clearer that CJ Perez has more than enough help in LPU.
Lyceum of the Philippines University sent out a statement on Friday at the Filoil Flying Centre.
A statement that came at the expense of defending champion San Beda College, no less.
Much of that had to do with CJ Perez who scored seven of his 24 points in the pivotal period.
Red Lions mentor Boyet Fernandez acknowledged that, without a doubt, they fell short in their efforts to stop – or even just slow down – the do-it-all swingman. “We had a game plan against CJ, but he scored at will. We have to check the tapes and analyze why we got burned on defense,” he said.
It was Perez’s make inside the last three minutes through the good defense of Franz Abuda and Javee Mocon that turned the tides for good in favor of the Pirates. “I always tell him, he’s gonna win games for us, he’s gonna lose games for us. That’s the way of the world for us,” mentor Topex Robinson said.
What’s important for his prized ward to remember is that LPU is not his team and his team alone. As he put it, “CJ knows that he will never be better than his teammates. He can never win it by himself.”
He also added, “Success is a team sport. It’s really about all of us.”
Indeed, Perez had more than enough help in the form of Cameroonian Mike Nzeusseu who posted an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double.
Marcelino twins Jaycee and Jayvee also played a pivotal part in combining for 21 points and eight rebounds all while taking turns in playing honest defense to King Lion Robert Bolick.
However, it was second-year guard Reymar Caduyac who provided the biggest boost of all with 16 points, four coming in the last three minutes, to go along with seven assists. “He’s really been helping us. He just bailed us out with a solid performance,” Robinson said, nothing but appreciative of the effort of his ward.”
