IRONMAN. Robert Bolick was on the floor for 95 percent of San Beda's rivalry game against Letran.
Robert Bolick played 38 out of the possible 40 minutes for San Beda College in their rivalry game against Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Tuesday.
And in the end, the Red Lions needed every minute the King Lion was on the floor to take care of their archrivals.
While his only time for rest came during mandatory breaks as well as a one and a half stint on the bench in the first half, Bolick said he had no problem whatsoever with his extended minutes. “Kung ano man ang ibigay ni coach, hingin ni coach Boyet [Fernandez], gagawin namin,” he said.
That is especially true as he was, more than taking and making shots, tasked to stay in front of Lead Knight Rey Nambatac. “Kapag kalaban mo kasi ang magagaling na player like Rey, ma-iinspire ka talaga maglaro e,” he expressed.
The 20-year-old wound up with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
He was on the floor for 95 percent of the game, but Bolick felt far from overused. “Alam naman ni coach Boyet paano kami alagaan e. We just have to trust him and kung sino man ang gusto niya ipasok, it’s his decision,” he said.
He then continued, “Nag-champion na naman siya sa [PBA] D-League at sa NCAA dahil sa mga decision niya na yun so whatever is coach’s decision, dapat dawin lang namin ng tama.”
After all, the ending was a good one for them. “Tingnan mo naman ang nangyari, nanalo naman kami. We just have to follow his system and continue to play as a team,” Bolick said.
