WELCOMING COMMITTEE. Grethcel Soltones will be among the fans giving San Sebastian a homecourt advantage on Thursday.
San Sebastian College-Recoletos will play host for the third-ever NCAA on Tour.
On Thursday, the Golden Stags are plotting a rude welcome for Jose Rizal University.
Of course, main man Michael Calisaan as well as Ryan Costelo, Jayson David, and RK Ilagan will be there to make sure their fans will have enough reason to cheer.
Apparently, among those fans will be one of the greatest student-athletes in San Sebastian’s storied history.
Asked if she will be present to support her alma mater, Grethcel Soltones answered, “Yeah. I will be there po as usual.”
Soltones, a three-time NCAA MVP and one of the brightest stars in the PVL, has long been a source of pride for Baste.
In turn, she has not been shy in showing pride for her school as she’s also a regular in watching San Sebastian’s basketball games.
And just as she always had in her time as a Lady Stag, Soltones has no doubt that the Golden Stags will go all out up against the Heavy Bombers. “I can’t guarantee a win kasi siyempre, bilog naman po yung bola. What I can promise is we’ll give them a good fight,” she said.
She then continued, “Ang sasabihin ko lang for JRU fans is gagalingan din naming mga Baste fans.”
However, don’t expect San Sebastian volleyball mentor Roger Gorayeb to be there. “Hindi. Ayoko makipagsiksikan dun,” he candidly told reporters.
