TOWER OF INTRAMUROS. Jeo Ambohot is looking like he could be a future star for Letran.
Colegio de San Juan de Letran wasn’t always Jeo Ambohot’s home away from home.
The Knights’ emergent two-way force first went to Arellano University coming from his native Compostela Valley.
Ambohot was never able to crack the Chiefs’ Team A, however, in his more than two years with them.
And so, the six-foot-six center looked for another opportunity and found it in Intramuros.
After a so-so first season, Ambohot now looks like a future star for Letran in averaging 8.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks.
The 20-year-old was also the first to admit that he had long marked on the calendar the matchup against his former team. “Sinasabi ko sa sarili ko na kung sila yung makakalaban namin, ipapakita ko yung best ko,” he expressed, full of confidence.
Indeed, that’s what he did and posted 15 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks all while proving to be the thorn on the side of Arellano on Tuesday.
Final score, 82-75 in favor of Ambohot and the Knights.
At the end of the day, even Chiefs’ mentor Jerry Codinera had to acknowledge how far his Team B player has come. “I’m just happy for him kasi ang ganda ng improvement niya. He’s really better with Letran,” he said.
He then continued, “Matalino at magaling yung bata e.”
