Bulanadi helps San Sebastian put a stop to struggles
ONLINE. After missing 16 of his 20 attempts the last time around, Allyn Bulanadi finally found the mark to help San Sebastian score a much-needed win.

After a long wait, San Sebastian College-Recoletos is back to its winning ways in the 93rd Season of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

And it’s no coincidence that they did so just as Allyn Bulanadi’s shot went back online.

Pouring in 18 points built on four triples, Bulanadi shot the Golden Stags over Andoy Estrella and Mapua University, 75-66, and all the way into a wire-to-wire win.

“Finally, nakuha rin namin. Ang pinakamahirap sa basketball e mag-bounce back e,” a satisfied head coach Egay Macaraya said after his boys returned inside the winner’s circle now at 2-3.

Surrendering back-to-back defeats to Lyceum of the Philippines University and University of Perpetual Help, Baste’s desire to get back to its winning ways was very much evident from the get-go.

Captain Ryan Costelo was finally at full health and steered his team onto a 12-1 start.

San Sebastian then nursed the double-digit lead for the next three quarters, but the Cardinals kept coming and were still at 66-73 with under a minute to play.

Costelo wouldn’t let them come any closer, however, and put the finishing touches on his team’s much-needed bounce back win with a couple of charities.

In the end, he had 10 points, eight assists, and four rebounds – without a doubt, already having shaken off his hand injury to start the season. “Good thing Ryan is here already and Allyn is making his three-points,” Macaraya said.

Still, it was Bulanadi’s hot shooting that kept the Golden Stags’ opponents at bay all throughout.

After missing 16 of his 20 attempts in his last outing, he made good on seven-of-13 shots this time around. Talking about his adjustments, he said, “Wala namang nagbago sa shooting ko. Siguro, yung mindset lang namin na manalo yung nagbago.”

Michael Calisaan also remained a force with eight points and 13 rebounds.

Now they are back to their winning ways, Baste want nothing more than to keep it going, especially as they find themselves in a four-way logjam for fourth-place with Arellano University, Jose Rizal University, and Perpetual.

On the other hand, the Cardinals was dealt a third loss in a row, fourth overall in five games. This, despite a big-time effort from Estrella who had 27 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
