BIG BLOW. EAC will have to find a way into what would be their first-ever Final Four without man in the middle Hamadou Laminou.
Still recuperating from a preseason injury to his left knee, Hamadou Laminou hurt his other knee last Tuesday.
And now, it’s looking like he will need much more time to get back to full health.
The Generals bared on Thursday that their Cameroonian center suffered a tear to the ACL in his right knee. “He’s out for the season because of ACL,” head coach Ariel Sison said.
Playing five games though still not 100 percent, he averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks for 3-2 EAC.
Team captain Sidney Onwubere also added, however, that they are still going for a second opinion. “First result of MRI said ACL (tear) po, pero he’s gonna get a second opinion,” he shared
Nonetheless, losing the six-foot-nine tower just when they are getting going in the season is a big blow for the San Marcelino-based squad. As Sison put it, “I don’t know what to say right now. I’m just so down thinking that he is out for the season.”
Still, the Generals remain upbeat about their chances to break through into the playoffs for the very first time. “We still have the same goal and that’s to make it to the Final Four. We have big guys who can really step up,” Onwubere said.
As for Laminou, the EAC skipper said they will stand beside their fallen giant. “Right now, we are still thinking about Laminou. We want to be by his side para hindi siya masyadong malungkot,” he shared
He then continued, “We know he needs family like us at this point.”
