SCOTTIE KNOWS. Scottie Thompson would have loved to play on the Perpetual gym in front of the Altas' faithful.
On Thursday, Scottie Thompson was back where it all started for him.
The now-Ginebra star was among the many fans who packed the UPHSD Gym to witness the matchup between home team University of Perpetual Help and visiting team San Beda College.
With the venue filled up and the Altas’ crowd loud and proud, Thompson had to say, “Alam mo naman kung homecourt, talagang all-out support. Parang Ginebra lang yan, yung fans namin, all-out support.”
Not a single person will be doubting Thompson knows what he’s talking about as, now into his second season in the PBA, he has heard and has been energized by the iconic chants of “GI-NE-BRA! Gi-NE-BRA!”
It wasn’t just the home crowd that was up and about either as the Red Lions’ supporters, who accounted for approximately 10 percent of the venue, also made their voices be heard.
And that kind of atmosphere is something Thompson wishes he could have experienced in his time in the NCAA. “Sana naranasan din naming batch ko ‘tong [NCAA on Tour]. Sayang,” he expressed,
Nonetheless, the one-time league MVP was nothing but glad to be part of NCAA action once more. “Sobrang excited ako na nakabalik ako rito,” he said.
