Nzeusseu the difference for perfect Pirates against daring Knights

BIG MAN. LPU's Mike Nzeusseu was the biggest thorn on the side of Letran.
With Colegio de San Juan de Letran able to keep up with its run game on Friday, Lyceum of the Philippines University had to look for another advantage to exploit.
Fortunately for them, that another advantage was pretty hard to miss.
With the Knights already missing injured Jeo Ambohot and then seeing Darly Pascual and Alex Mandreza foul out, the opportunity to impose himself was right there for the taking for Pirate Mike Nzeusseu.
The Cameroonian did that and more, especially in the final frame where by his lonesome, he collected eight points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks.
In the same timeframe, all of Letran only had nine points and seven rebounds.
More than that, the six-foot-six center was an immovable object that wouldn’t budge each and every time Jerrick Balanza, JP Calvo, Rey Nambatac, and Bong Quinto ventured into the lane. Asked about the difference he brought, assistant coach Jeff Perlas answered, “Malaki talaga. May rim protector ka e.”
He then continued, “He doesn’t have to be the center of the offense, pero dun sa defensive side, dun talaga siya dapat mapakinabangan.”
For his part, Nzeusseu said he just did not want to get his first taste of defeat in the season – not yet, at least. “I really wanted to get this. Letran really started the game strong and really wanted to give us that first loss,” he said.
He then continued, “That’s why in the fourth quarter, I was like, ‘This is the last quarter, there is no more tomorrow. We have to give everything now.”
Indeed, LPU’s man in the middle gave his everything and had a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double – all of it proving to be the difference between two of the top three teams in the league.
