NEW BLOOD. Current King Lion Robert Bolick had his season-high in scoring just as former King Lion Baser Amer was in attendance.
Up against the very team which has emerged as something like their modern-day rival, Robert Bolick and San Beda College did not need much motivation.
The King Lion and the Red Lions waged war against the Arellano University last Tuesday and came away with a convincing 97-70 victory.
It was technically a rematch of the Finals from a season ago, but was ultimately a blowout by the defending champions.
Orchestrating the offensive was Bolick who had 23 points built on five triples, six rebounds, and two assists.
Of course, the 20-year-old wanted nothing more than to down the Chiefs, even though he was no longer matched up with Jiovani Jalalon like he was a season ago. “Siyempre, Arellano pa rin yan. Sineryoso, tinrabaho namin talaga,” he said.
More than that, however, Bolick also found added fuel to the fire with former San Beda standout Baser Amer in attendance.
“You have to play hard if the King Lion is watching,” he later tweeted.
You have to play hard if the king lion is watching thank you idol!! @SBCbaseramer 🦁— Robert Bolick (@BabesBolick) Agosto 29, 2017
Indeed, that, he did and also brought along all of the Red Lions with him.
In all, they made good on 50.8 percent of their field goals and registered 15 assists compared to their opponents’ eight.
And Amer, who won four Seniors titles and seven Juniors titles for San Beda, only took notice.
“Good game, dong. Good leadership,” he expressed.
