Letran, Arellano figure in separate must-win games

Games on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre

12:00 PM – EAC vs Perpetual

2:00 PM – Mapua vs Arellano

4:00 PM – Letran vs CSB

Only one playoff berth remains up for grabs in the NCAA 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament – and three teams remain vying for it.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Arellano University both try to assure themselves of a fighting chance for that fourth and final playoff berth when they face different foes on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Knights take on ninth-ranked College of St. Benilde at 4:00 PM while the Chiefs take on 10th-ranked Mapua University at 2:00 PM.

Both games are must-win for both teams and all of the action will be on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.

Letran and Arellano, along with San Sebastian College-Recoletos, stand on even ground with similar 8-9 slates.

A win for them in their final assignment in the elimination round will assure them of at least a playoff for that coveted Final Four slot.

The Golden Stags will take on their own final assignment on Thursday.

In case of a two-way tie for the fourth and final playoff berth, a knockout bout will take place. In case of a three-way tie, a stepladder playoff will take place.

In the day’s other game at 12:00 PM, Emilio Aguinaldo College (6-11) and University of Perpetual Help (4-12) both want nothing more than to end their campaigns on a winning note.

Juniors action will then see the CSB-La Salle Greenhills Junior Blazers (11-6) and the Letran Squires (10-7) go at it at 6:00 PM to boost their respective playoff bids. There will also be matchups between defending champion Mapua Red Robins (13-4) and also-ran Arellano Braves (7-10) at 10:00 AM as well as between the Perpetual Junior Altas (6-10) and the EAC Brigadiers (2-15) at 8:00 AM.
