PAINT THE TOWN RED.
Most Valuable Player CJ Perez is flanked by Lyceum of the Philippines University teammate Mike Nzeusseu and San Beda College rival Javee Mocon in the Mythical Team in the NCAA 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Perez is the no-brainer MVP after averaging 19.3 points in 45.1 percent shooting on top of 6.5 rebound, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals through the 18 wins in 18 games of his crew.
He had much help from the imposing presence of the Cameroonian Nzeusseu who had per game counts of 11.4 points in 49.3 percent shooting to go along with 11.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks.
Still challenging the perfect Pirates now in the Finals are the Red Lions who have been powered by Mocon’s double-double norms of 13 points in 41.6 percent shooting and 11.2 rebounds as well as 3.4 assists.
Teammate Robert Bolick was also in the running, but became ineligible for any individual honor after incurring a one-game suspension.
Rounding out the top five players in the league are University of Perpetual Help’s Nigerian reinforcement Prince Eze who posted 15.3 points, 16.4 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game and Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Filipino-Nigerian talent Sidney Onwubere who pounded in 16.1 points, 11 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game.
Along with Bolick, another contender for the Mythical Team was Michael Calisaan of San Sebastian College-Recoletos. Also having been suspended for one game, however, he was disqualified from making the cut.
