She's always telling me, when it comes to championships, you have to bring out your A-game always -- Robert Bolick on girlfriend Aby Marano
Robert Bolick credited San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez, his Red Lions teammates and even his mother Zeny for inspiring him to work hard and deliver in the 93rd NCAA Finals series against Lyceum of the Philippines University.
But the proud son of Ormoc, Leyte gave special thanks to the person who pushed him to unleash his “beast mode” when needed the most.
He was grateful to have his long-time girlfriend Aby Marano by his side to motivate and boost his confidence.
Unfortunately, Marano missed San Beda’s 92-82 Game 2 win at the Big Dome Thursday as she had a scheduled match in the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix held at FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
“Of course, si Aby. (Sayang) may game siya,” said Bolick, who had 18 points including the dagger trey in the closing stretch of the match.
“She's always telling me, when it comes to championships, you have to bring out your A-game always,” he added.
“Kahit siya, nagagalit siya sa akin. Dalawa ang nagagalit sa akin, si Coach Boyet, tapos pag-uwi ko sa bahay, si Aby naman,” Bolick joked drawing a good laugh from reporters inside the press room during the postgame interview.
“But you know, inspired lang,” he added.
Marano, who watched the series opener last Friday, may have missed the game but the couple will definitely have a double celebration after her team F2 Logistics kept its unbeaten slate intact with a straight sets win over Generika-Ayala.
