Perpetual, SSC-R look to get back on winning track

Coming off painful setbacks the last time out, University of Perpetual Help battle an undermanned San Sebastian College side in the 93rd NCAA women’s volleyball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Monday.
Opening serve is at 12:30 p.m. following the clash of winless teams Lyceum of the Philippines University and Mapua University at 11:00 a.m.
The Lady Altas and Lady Stags are tied at 1-1 win-loss slate after absorbing contrasting defeats in their previous matches.
Perpetual was overpowered by San Beda College, 26-28, 18-25, 27-29, last Thursday while SSC-R, which played with just seven players available, folded in five sets against Jose Rizal University a week ago.
The Lady Stags fell short of completing a comeback, 25-27, 23-25, 25-22, 25-16, 12-15, as they bowed down to the Lady Bombers for the first time in decades.
The winner will tie JRU, which is currently at solo fourth spot with a 2-1 card.
Meanwhile, the Lady Cardinals and Lady Pirates are winless in two games.
Mapua absorbed a straight sets 22-25, 17-25, 19-25, loss last week while LPU is coming off a 25-22, 25-23, 14-25, 13-25, 10-15.
In men’s play, unbeaten Perpetual (2-0) shoots for a share of the lead with Arellano U (3-0) at 2:00 p.m. against SSC-R (1-1).
Mapua (1-1) and LPU (0-2) collide at 9:30 a.m.
