Lady Altas survive EAC in tough five-set affair
The Lady Altas avoided the upset axe Thursday in the NCAA Season 93 women's volleyball tournament, scoring a hard-fought 22-25, 25-19, 25-14, 23-25, 15-13, victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College at the San Juan Arena.

Perpetual survived once again despite a not-so-good outing.

The Lady Altas avoided the upset axe Thursday in the NCAA Season 93 women's volleyball tournament, scoring a hard-fought 22-25, 25-19, 25-14, 23-25, 15-13, victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College at the San Juan Arena.

Perpetual, coming off another five-set affair against San Sebastian, lost a 2-1 lead to the Lady Generals before managing to hang tough in the final set.

"In fairness sa EAC, maganda din yung nilaro nila. Umaangat yung game nila," Perpetual head coach Macky Carino said.

"Kami naman, medyo nangangapa pa rin until now. Pero at last kahit papaano natapos yung game panalo kami," he added as his team moved to 3-1 in the standings.

Five players scored in double figures for the Lady Altas led by Cindy Imbo with a game-high 17 points.

Bianca Tripolo and Lourdes Clemente added 15 points apiece while Allysa Sangalang was good for 11.

Aira Binondo led the way for EAC with 13 points but the Lady Generals dropped to 0-4.

In the first pair of games of the day, Perpetual Help made quick work of EAC in the men's division, scoring an easy 25-14, 25-19, 25-11 win.

Rey Taneo led the way for the Altas with 12 points while Joebert Almodiel fired 11. Ronniel Rosales was good for 10 points for Perpetual.

In juniors action, EAC beat Perpetual also in straight sers, 25-18, 25-23, 27-25, after Ederson Rebusora dropped 21 points on 18 attacks.
