The Lady Stags moved up to a tie with idle University of Perpetual Help at third to fourth spots with their fourth win in six games that put SSC-R on the right track of occupying a spot in the semifinals.
“Nasa within firing range pa rin dun sa semis. Nakakatuwa sila ngayon kasi wala masyadong errors,” said SSC-R coach Roger Gorayeb. “At least ‘yung laro na aking sinasabi nagagawa naman nila.”
Joyce Sta. Rita, who came fresh from a career-high 28-point explosion Tuesday against Mapua, scored 18 points in an all-around offensive performance that saw her unleash 10 kills, post five kill blocks and pick a couple of service aces for the Lady Stags.
Nikka Dalisay added 12 points while Daurene Santos had 11 markers for SSC-R, which still has Lyceum of the Philippines and unbeaten teams San Beda College and Arellano University in its list of assignments.
Letran absorbed its second straight defeat to slide back at 2-4 card.
Kathleen Barrinuevo and Jaymeleene Parin finished with six points each for the Intramuros-based squad, who sufferedanother sorry loss after a five-set setback to the Lady Red Spikers last Monday.
