San Sebastian College and Jose Rizal University move to strengthen their respective Final Four bids in the 93rd NCAA women’s volleyball competition against separate also-ran rivals on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The surging Lady Stags meet the struggling Lyceum of the Philippines University at 11:00 a.m. to be followed by the Lady Bombers’ collision with the winless Mapua University Lady Cardinals at 12:30 p.m.

After a shaky start behind an 8-woman lineup, SSC-R is suddenly in the thick of the battle for the remaining three semifinals berths. Unbeaten repeat-seeking Arellano University took the first Final Four seat.

The Lady Stags are on a three-game winning streak and are fresh off a 25-9, 25-22, 25-18 demolition of Letran last Thursday.

They will face a team already out of the semis contention. The Lady Pirates are tied with Emilio Aguinaldo College with a 1-5 slate.

LPU is on a three-game skid including a painful five-set defeat against San Beda College the last time out.

Meanwhile, JRU is within striking distance of the top four with a 3-3 mark at fifth to sixth spot alongside College of St. Benilde.

The Lady Bombers behind league-leading scorer Shola Alvarez swept the Lady Blazers, 25-21, 25-22, 25-21, in their previous match.

JRU is heavily favored against the Lady Cardinals, who are winless in six outings and on a 15-game skid.
