San Beda clinches semis twice-to-beat advantage

San Beda College marches into the Final Four armed with a twice-to-beat advantage.

San Beda College secured the last Final Four twice-to-beat advantage after repelling a pesky Emilio Aguinaldo College side, 18-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-14, Friday in the 93rd NCAA women’s volleyball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Red Spikers closed their elimination round campaign with an 8-1 win-loss record tied with defending champion Arellano University. The Lady Chiefs will get the no. 1 seed because of superior tiebreak and will go up against the fourth seed in the semis.
San Beda will challenge the no. 3 seed in the Final Four.
Nieza Viray unloaded 17 spikes to highlight her 22-point performance for the Mendiola-based squad. Cesca Racraquin had another all-around game with 18 markers anchored 14 attacks while adding 14 digs and 11 excellent reception for the Lady Red Spikers, whose lone loss in the elims came at the hands of Arellano U in straight sets.
The Lady Generals closed their campaign with a 2-7 mark at eighth spot.
Jaylene Lumbo and Ladeisheen Magbanua posted 13 and 11 markers, respectively, for EAC.
